CONCORDIA STUDENT TO DISCUSS THEATRE TRAVEL
Lisa N. Marquardt, a senior at Concordia College, will present the first lecture in the Student Lecture Series for the 2008-09 academic year. Her lecture, “Mobile Theatre: Corpus Christi Plays of the Middle Ages and Postcolonial Influences on Australian Drama,” will be at 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 22 in Birkeland Alumni Lounge on the Moorhead, Minn., campus.
Traveling theatre began with the medieval Corpus Christi plays and continued through colonial transplantation of plays to new shores and remains lively even today in such vast places as Australia. Today, however, theatres are often associated with specific places, such as Broadway. Marquardt will discuss her study of travel as remaining essential to theatrical art.
Marquardt’s faculty sponsor is Dr. Dawn Duncan, English. The lecture is free and open to the public.
