CONCORDIA TO PRESENT CHOIRS AND BELLS CONCERT
Concordia College students in four choirs: Cantabile, Männerchor, Bel Canto and the Concordia Chapel Choir along with students in the handbell choirs, Tintinnabula and Campana, will give a concert at 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 26 in Memorial Auditorium on the Moorhead, Minn., campus.
Cantabile is a first-year women’s choir, and Männerchor is a choir made up of the first-year male students. A blend of 92 voices creates the stunning sound of the Concordia Chapel Choir, all three conducted by Michael Smith. Bel Canto is a choral ensemble comprised of upperclass women who perform locally and on campus during concerts and is conducted by Charlotte Moe. Tintinnabula and Campan handbell choirs are conducted by Jessica Westgard.
Music from a variety of composers will be performed at the concert which also includes a traditional south African tune “Tshotsholoza” sung in a mixture of Zulu and Ndebele dialects and “Goin’ Up to Glory” based on a traditional field holler/work song.
The concert is free and open to the public.
