DISCOVER LANDS TO THE NORTH WITH
F/M COMMUNIVERSITY COURSE

Before the snow starts to fly, take in an F/M Communiversity course “In the Lands Where the Vikings Settled: Iceland, Greenland and Newfoundland” with Verlyn Anderson, retired library director and professor of Scandinavian studies at Concordia College. Learn more about these interesting lands and their history during a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 11 at the Northtown Grill, 3520 12th Avenue North, Fargo. The fee is $5 and pre-registration is strongly encouraged.
Norse settlers started arriving in Iceland around 870, fleeing from the tryanical rule of Harald, the Fairhaired. Within a half century, Iceland’s population grew to more than 40,000. Greenland was settled in around 980 by Erick, the Red whose son Leif Erickson was the first European to set foot on the North American continent.
